HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Shannon from Ainsley, David, and the “traveling grandmas!”

Today was a beautiful day here in Guangzhou! The sun finally came out and the temperature was very nice. This was the best weather so far. We spent as much time as possible outdoors walking around. Ainsley once again spent some quality time with the “traveling grandmas” while David had a little time to himself in the morning and took care of some important paperwork in the early afternoon

With the completion of this paperwork, everything is now ready for Ainsley’s visa application at the US Consulate tomorrow. David and Ainsley don’t have to go; instead, Shiyan, the adoption coordinator in China, will take all of the visa application paperwork to the US Consulate for them. The next day, Friday, April 13, David and Ainsley must go in person to pick up the visa and take an oath. Then, finally, everyone will be headed back to the US soon!

In the meantime, we have lots of packing and planning to do as we prepare for the long journey home with Ainsley along for the ride now (which adds a whole different dimension to air travel for 20+hours)! (This will be good practice for our soon-to-be-planned vacation to the Caribbean sometime this coming fall. Of course, that trip will involve Ainsley AND Griffin, but the Clubb family is determined to continue to enjoy our love of travel, even if it will be much different with two little ones – party of four instead of party of two! Our friends, Sean and Bonnie, are an inspiration as they recently went to Hawaii with two little ones! So, it CAN be done!)

During our free day tomorrow, we plan to try once again to head out of the city to White Cloud Mountain Park for some hiking and new scenery. Let’s hope we have another warm, sunny day like today!!

Ainsley had a great bath time last night, so all of the pictures today will try to tell that story (as much as possible in six pictures or less). It is very clear that Ainsley LOVES bath time! She lets herself go during these times and her curious and adventurous personality really comes out! She likes to stand and walk around in the tub (not too safe, so Daddy has to be on high alert), splash around, play with her bath tub toys, investigate every faucet or handle, put her nose and mouth underwater, make crazy noises, and much more. Enjoy the pictures and video below.

“FIRSTS FOR THE DAY”
(some of these may or may not really be the first time Ainsley has done something, but right now they are definitely “firsts” with her new family)

• Ainsley stuck her nose and mouth under water in the bathtub
• Ainsley pooped in the afternoon when Daddy was completing paperwork (way to go girl!), so one of the “traveling grandmas” (David’s mom) got the distinct privilege and honor of changing Ainsley’s diaper for the first time!
• Ainsley clapped her hands

UPDATE FROM HOME (04.10.2007)
Griffin decided to give Mommy an early birthday present by sleeping from 11pm to 5am and then again from 7am to 10:30am the night before!! After an exhausting day, Mommy took the extra sleep she could get! Today we had a little date and enjoyed a trip to the mall for some exercise and lunch. This was the longest day we've had on our own so far and we survived. Hoping tonight is another good sleep night!

See you soon!

“I love bath time! But I am very curious…”

“Where does this water come from?”
(Ainsley likes standing up and walking around in the tub)

“And where does the water go?”

“Maybe the water comes from here…”

“Or maybe it comes from here?”

“Who cares where the water comes from!
Let’s just enjoy it!”
