Good night of sleep last night as Isabelle awoke only once
at 3:34 a.m. and then woke for the morning at 5:45 a.m.
Straight for the bottle did I run and mixed the formula that
would reduce her hunger a ton. Chinese formula seems to be
"clumpy" and has a lot of sugar, or something else that makes
your hands very sticky if you get the formula on yourself.
We were told that Chinese children like their
bottles
really, really hot but we have discovered that Isabelle will not
take
it unless it
has cooled to about the same temperature as American children
like it.
After
her bottle we all got ready and went down for breakfast with
some other
couples here to adopt. The wait staff keeps bringing us
food that they
think
Isabelle will like or should eat and she will not touch any of
it. In
fact, she
gets quite upset if we try to give her some of it. During
one of her
episodes
of not wanting to sit she and I toured the restaurant and she
fell
asleep so I
took her upstairs to the room while Tori and Stefanie finished
eating
and
talking with the other couples.
While Isabelle slept, I read a book that Bob had given
me and then Tori
and Stefanie got back and we played Quiddler on the floor in the
room.
I got
to work out at 9:45 a.m. and then got back to the room so that
Stefanie
and
Tori could do some shopping. Isabelle and I stayed behind
and played a
lot
before she fell asleep on the bed. I did some laundry and
polished off
the
book as she slept and then the girls returned and we reviewed
their
purchases. Around noon Tori and I jaunted off to sample
the
magnificent
cuisine at McDonalds. Tori, after finishing, raced back to
the room
with
Stefanie's ice cream while I looked for a pink suitcase for
Isabelle.
We need
the extra room because the purchases are taking up some serious
space
now.
I got a hard-sided rolling suitcase for 50 RmB (about $6.25 USD).
With
the
strap from home it should last at least until Atlanta.
We leave for the White Swan hotel in Guangzhou tomorrow
so we
spent an
hour or so packing for the trip. Hard to believe we will
be back where
our
portion of the Chinese adventure began. Doubly hard to
believe that in
one
week it will be Asher's 6th birthday. Isabelle will be on
hand for the
festivities
in Atlanta and then we will recelebrate with Zach once we get
back home
to St.
Louis. This has just been an amazing trip. The
country and people are
friendly and unique. So far God has protected us and we
thank Him for
that!
Isabelle is so awesome and amazing!
Dinner was at a Chinese restaurant tonight, shocking
right? Food
was
great but Isabelle was in no mood to sit around so I walked her
around
and
showed her the sights from the restaurant balcony. She
liked them so
much
she fell asleep. After dinner we did a quick tour of the
hallowed
shopping
grounds around the hotel and then it was up to give Isabelle a
bath, Stefanie
does it, and then off to bed... tomorrow Guangzhou.

Cute as a button and Isabelle looks
beautiful, too.
