"We may not have it all together, but together we have it all!." ~Author unknown

Where do I begin? The last 6 months have flown by and yet it seems like Mia has always been here. We just finished our 6 month post-placement study. Sure I miss my clean house, but her laughter fills the room and can make anyone smile.

She is learning so much. She usually understands everything we tell her and is becoming much more verbal. Of course her favorite word is NO. I guess I shouldn't take it personal because the other day her v-tech book said "turn the page" and she responded "NO." She is also picking up some slang such as yeah, huh, and mmmmm. Our girl that use to eat anything and everything has now become a rather picky eater. I am telling myself this is a good thing because it means she trusts us to make plenty of food available!?! Meanwhile, the dogs have decided maybe she isn't so bad after all now that she is willing to share her snacks.

Our summer is full of fun things for Mia to experience. She has already been introduced to the sprinkler park, riding in the boat, and a picnic. Next weekend she will be a flower girl with her cousins in a wedding. In July we will be going to Canada to see the Niagara Falls. It is so fun to watch her reaction to new things.

Our whole family has been learning the the art of patience. Her older brother and sister assure me that they were never this much work! I am not so sure about that :-)! Mia is smart, strong-willed, determined, and absolutely lovable! She has been learning patience herself since she is the third child and is constantly in the car with Mama running the older two around to all of their activities. She is 22 months going on 10 years...she can't wait to start doing all the activities Lexi is doing. I have to watch her close at practice or she will sneak in! She has her somersault down and dreams of going on the trampoline at the gym! We are hoping to enroll her in a tumbling class when she turns 2.

Currently, we are working opposite schedules in order to prevent Mia from going to daycare. I tried going to the Y a couple of times to work out and it was a disaster! I feel bad for Mia and the child care workers! Overall, Mia has done so well, but is extremely anxious when she is not with us. Considering we were her fifth placement in 16 months, it is understandable. We will continue to give her the time she needs and keep reminding her "Mama always comes back!" She has grown leaps and bounds since she joined our family. She is in the 95 percentile for height and 50 percentile for weight. We think it is so funny that she is so tall just like her siblings. In fact, she may end up being taller than her sissy. Her health has been good!

There have been ups and downs over the last 6 months. However, we are so thankful that God led us to her! If you are thinking of adopting...go for it! It is an amazing journey and your life will never be the same!

"Every story has an end, but in life every ending is just a new beginning."
